The single FASTEST way to improve your Photography

👋 Hey everyone,

When I was 17, I competed in the Iceland Open, where I broke a national record in powerlifting by deadlifting 210kg.

Looking back, I remember years of heavy lifts and hauling my ass to the gym no matter if I felt like it or not 😆 . However it taught me lessons I still use to get good at anything quickly.

So today, I'm excited to share with you:

  • The lessons that significantly improved my photography skills in just a year (this works for your content game as well).

  • A challenge that can elevate any craft faster then you ever thought possible.

Let’s dive in!

💪 The Power of Repetition

Powerlifting hammered home one crucial truth: becoming good requires patience, dedication, and consistency.

You don't get strong by hitting the gym every now and then. It's all about showing up, week in, week out, no matter what.

Just like climbing an Icelandic mountain (or any mountain tbh): each step, no matter how small, moves you closer to the peak. Improvement requires steady, persistent effort.

📸 Applying Strength Training Principles to Photography

When I decided to get serious about photography, I knew I had to commit to practicing daily. So, I began a year-long challenge, posting a photo on Instagram every day.

This wasn't just about photography - it was a commitment to growth, forcing me to capture and edit photos relentlessly.

It was a simple challenge but if I’m honest it was far from easy.

To keep myself accountable, I announced my challenge publicly and told everyone about it. Knowing that others were watching motivated me to follow through.

(Yes, the fear of being seen as a loser if I quit played a big part - funny how the brain works, right?)

This daily grind dramatically improved my skills. In less than a year, I went from a total beginner to landing my first paid photography gig. It's proof that consistent effort pays off, and fast.

🚀 Your Challenge

Now, it's your turn. If you want to become very good in photography, content creation, or any field, you've got to put in the work.

Remember, repetition is not just the path to learning: it's the foundation of achievement.

I challenge you to commit to a daily practice for one year. Find something that forces you out of your comfort zone and into a routine.

Whether it's sharing your work publicly or setting personal milestones, use whatever tricks you need to stay on track.

Embrace the process, learn from the mistakes, and watch as you improve with every attempt.

Let's get to it and see where this journey takes us 🤝 .

Catch you in the next one!

Best,
Arnúlfur aka That Icelandic Guy

✨ P.S. Just a quick note - I've released my first Lightroom preset pack in years, designed for travel and street photography. It's been a lot of work, and I'm really proud of it. 😊
