How I Would Hit 100K Followers in 1 Year (If I Could Start Over)
Hey all!
I’ve been reflecting a lot on my career as a full-time creative.
What I’ve done well, what I could have done better, and what I’d do differently if I had to start all over again today.
So today, I want to share how I would hit 100k followers on any platform in one year if I had the chance to do it all over again.
It's likely you're making this mistake yourself, but the good news is—it’s easy to fix.
Let’s dive in! 🚀
📊 My Track Record
I’ve got some decent experience with growing my personal brand:
This isn’t about bragging—I just think I'm fairly good at this, and my track record might offer some insights that could help you too.
💪 What I Did Well
First off, I’m consistent, and, stupidly stubborn (not always a good thing 😂).
I don’t give up easily, and when I set my mind to something, I go all in.
I also get hyper-obsessed with learning and improving, which has helped me create a ton of content.
Content is king on social media, and here’s why:
The more you post, the more you grow. Consistency builds momentum.
More content means more practice. Every post is a chance to learn and improve.
At my peak content mania, I was posting 1-4 TikToks a day, 1-3 YouTube videos a week, and as much Instagram content as I could handle.
Looking back, I’m not sure how I managed it all by myself, but that effort built the foundation of my brand: That Icelandic Guy.
❌ What I Would Do Differently
If I could start over, I’d focus on one platform.
I spread myself too thin by trying to grow on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok simultaneously.
I was listening to advice like Gary Vee’s about being everywhere, but what I failed to see is that Gary has a whole team behind him—I’m just one solo Viking :(.
I now believe it’s best to master one platform before branching out.
By focusing all my energy on one place, I could have grown faster and built way more momentum.
🤔 Which Platform to Pick?
Honestly, it doesn’t matter too much.
Pick the platform you enjoy the most and where your audience hangs out.
I decided to step back from TikTok (despite having 800k followers) because it wasn’t bringing in income or joy.
Most of my revenue comes from YouTube, and I enjoy creating there, so I’ve been focusing more of my time on it.
🎯 The Key to Growth
Focus everything you’ve got on one platform.
Master it, create systems to make your life easier, and then think about expanding.
That’s how I’d go about hitting 100k followers in one year if I started from scratch today.
Hope this helps you focus and crush it my friend! 🤝
Yours truly,
A solo viking,
Arnúlfur
