Camera Accessories I Regret Not Buying Sooner

Camera Accessories I Regret Not Buying Sooner

Hey everyone,

In the world of content creation, covering everything from photos to videos, gear isn't everything, but it certainly plays a big role.

Over the last decade, I’ve gathered quite the stash – some items have become essentials, while others… well, they’ve pretty much turned into dust collectors.

So, today let’s dive into:

  • The gear I use daily as a photographer.

  • My content creation tool kit.

  • Accessories I wish I'd bought sooner.

To all my fellow gearheads, this one’s for you!

📸 My Photography Gear Essentials

I really love landscape photography, but I also dabble in street photography quite a bit. Treating that urban environment as if it were a natural landscape baby.

And here's the gear I (almost) can’t function without:

  • Sony A74 (main camera)

  • Sony A6700 (small camera – pairs perfectly with my favorite apsc lens: Sony 16-55mm f2.8)

  • Sony 20mm f/1.8

  • Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8

  • Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 ii

  • A lightweight travel tripod

These are the essentials that make up Arnúlfur’s photography kit. Idk why I just talked about myself in 3rd person 😂. Ok next section.

📹 Content Creation Toolkit

Here’s the gear that covers everything for my filming and editing, both in the studio and on the go:

  • Sony A74 (main camera)

  • Sony ZV-E1 (mostly B-camera for different angles)

  • Sony 20mm f/1.8 (go-to talking head lens)

  • Sigma 85mm f/1.4

  • Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8

  • Shure SM7B microphone (crisp audio is key!)

  • Godox SL-100W (main light) complemented by Godox SL-60W for additional lighting

  • And, of course, my trusty laptop for editing on the move.

These are the main tools behind my video and content creation.

🔥 Game-Changing Accessories I Regret Not Buying Sooner

Ever stumbled upon gear so useful, you wonder how you ever managed without it?

Here’s mine:

  • Camera clips for easy attachment to my bag – a total lifesaver for quick access.

  • Universal straps – so simple, yet so useful, for example to attach gear to my backpack, attach chords together and a whole lot more.

  • Mist filters – they add that special something to my shots, I use them constantly.

  • Color Checker – a game changer for nailing color accuracy, super handy for quick white balance, and keeps my colors consistent across the board.

🤔 The Truth About Gear

My friends, here’s my take though: gear does not make a creator or a photographer.

Yes, having advanced equipment is great, but it’s not a must in order to create something special.

I knot that I own a lot of stuff at the moment. But a decade ago I started out with just my phone and an old second-hand laptop for editing.

Gradually, I upgraded as needed, but always kept in mind that the best tool is the one that’s currently in my hands.

Remember, it’s not about having the best gear but about using what you have to take the photos or create content you love (but, ngl, a big lens is cool).

Until next time,

Best,
Arnulfur
