5 Ways to Guarantee You Fail as a Creator in 2025

5 Ways to Guarantee You Fail as a Creator in 2025

👋 Hey everyone,

Here's a guide you definitely don't want to follow if you're serious about making it as a creator in 2025.

We're flipping the script today with some brutal truths—let's dive in.

1. Not Defining Success

Imagine climbing a big sexy Icelandic mountain without knowing which peak you're aiming for.

You'd walk aimlessly, tire yourself, and never reach the top.

Creating without a clear goal is the same—you're working without direction.

Goals are more than motivational tools: they’re your roadmap.

If you're serious about growth, set your destination now. Not next month, not next week.

When opportunities come up, ask: Does this get me closer to my goal? If yes, go for it. If not, stay away.

2. Making Your Goals Too Complicated

If your goals look like a 20-step manual, you're overcomplicating things big time my friend.

I promise, complexity kills progress.

Focus on 1 to 3 key goals—something you can write down on a sticky note and look at every day.

In my experience the simpler the goal, the more achievable it is.

3. Giving Up When It Gets Tough

Ok my guy (or gal), let’s be real: it's always going to be tough.

Low engagement, slow growth, creative slumps—it’s inevitable and it happens to all of us.

The magic happens when you push through. Stay committed, let your goals be the fire that keeps you going.

Nothing worth having comes easy.

(Look at me writing like a Tony Robbins type of motivational speaker 😂)

4. Doing It Alone

Being a creator can feel isolating.

Friends and family might not understand why you spend so much time creating content—and that's okay.

However you need people who do. Find other creators to connect with.

Share your wins and struggles—it makes all the difference. Creativity thrives in community.

That's why I'm building ‘The Darkroom’ a community around photography—a space for us to geek out, get inspired, and most importantly, have fun together.

5. Trying to Be Everywhere at Once

Trust me, growing on every platform at once is a recipe for burnout—I’ve been there.

Master one platform first. Understand your audience, create great content, and grow there before expanding.

Once you have momentum—and maybe some help—then branch out.

Until then, focus where it matters most.

And there you have it—5 ways to guarantee failure!

But you’re not here for failure right? You’re here to grow, create, and make this journey worthwhile.

Set big, clear goals, stay focused, and surround yourself with the right people.

You’ve got this, my friend! đŸ€
